Remant transforms historic warehouse into modern headquarters

    ReHouse renovation kicked off

Remant has begun renovating its headquarters at Oudeleeuwenrui 25. The iconic building, officially protected as a monument under the name Magazijn Arend, is undergoing a forward-looking transformation under the project name ReHouse.

Built in 1849 and located at the Bonapartedok, the neoclassical warehouse is a tangible reminder of Antwerp’s rich port history. The new name for the building merges its past as a warehouse with its future as “Remant House.” With ReHouse, Remant aims not only to preserve this heritage but also to breathe new life into it by combining historical character with modern comfort and sustainable technology.

Respecting the past, ready for the future

The renovation of the headquarters is being carried out with great care for its heritage values. Authentic elements such as the façades, entrance gate, hoist opening, and wooden columns are being refreshed and will retain their prominent place in the building. At the same time, investments are being made in energy-efficient solutions such as underfloor heating, ventilation, acoustic optimization, a green roof, and solar panels.

Erik Keustermans, CEO, shares his vision for the building:
“ReHouse is more than a renovation project. It reflects Remant’s sustainable vision, where long-term thinking, corporate social responsibility, and respect for heritage go hand in hand.

We have carefully prepared this renovation in consultation with ‘Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed’ (the Agency for Immovable Heritage) and following a historical study by Archivaria. The architecture firm Friday Office has skillfully combined the historical value with our wishes for a contemporary office environment. This enables us to preserve this valuable heritage and transform it into a pleasant workplace. Inside, a light, open working environment will be created, with a focus on well-being, ergonomics, and collaboration. We’re opting for warm materials, greenery, and inviting meeting spaces.”

The renovated building is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2027.
