Remant has purchased the characterful property at Oudeleeuwenrui 23 in Antwerp, next to the head office ReHouse. After 17 years as B&B Feek Suites, the building returned to the market, offering a remarkable opportunity thanks to its unique location—right next to our headquarters—and its substantial heritage value.
With the acquisition of this exceptional property, we take another step in strengthening our presence in the historic harbour district while creating additional space for meetings, collaboration, and future growth.
Because both the front and rear façades are protected heritage, the complete renovation will be carried out in close collaboration with the City of Antwerp and Heritage Flanders.
Renovation preparations are already underway. The building we purchased is directly adjacent to our headquarters at Oudeleeuwenrui 25. We are therefore examining the feasibility of connecting the two buildings. The delivery and commissioning of the renovated site are currently expected in the second half of 2028.
A building with a rich past
Oudeleeuwenrui 23 is steeped in Antwerp’s port history. The building was designed in 1898 by Gustave Royers, then the city architect and a key figure in the port’s hydraulic engineering development.
For many years, the property served as the residence and office of the chief harbour master. Like our ReHouse project, it forms part of a protected historic building block between the Oudeleeuwenrui, Van Schoonbekeplein, Godefriduskaai, and Zeevaartstraat—an area closely linked to historic activities around the Bonapartedok and Willemdok.
Heritage protection highlights the district’s significant historical and industrial‑archaeological value, serving as a testament to the northern expansion of the Port of Antwerp.
With this acquisition, a unique piece of port heritage will be given a new future within our organisation. We look forward to developing the building—under the name Royers—into a fully integrated part of our offices in the Eilandje district of Antwerp. We will gladly share further updates as the project progresses.
